One hundred years ago, the world came to a standstill.
The incantation known as Anima Mundi was cast
and the entity known as “Death” appeared in our plane of existence
granting a wish to a desperate girl.

Magic has always existed in our world but very few notice.
Monsters, curses, miracles... such things do happen and sometimes they can be really dangerous.
Thankfully, there are some people out there working together to protect us and the balance of the world!The story begins with the annual Coming of Age Ceremony witches hold every December 21st in a different city.
This fateful night, Yoru will accept her very first apprentice.

YORU

Known as the Astral Witch, she is a witch who accepts all sorts of supernatural requests to survive in “this expensive world”Cheerful and and a little bit impulsive, she manages a bookshop as a front.
Her magical specialty consists of using the positions of stars and planets to help her cast spells. This is a type of sorcery called Old Magic.She is under the supervision of the Royal Council of Magic, the highest magical authority in the country, due to a certain event she was involved in and which everyone seems to agree she was responsible for.

Recognized for her characteristic silvery hair, jet-black earrings and crazy ideas such as "getting too involved with humans" the consensus among her colleagues is that it's best to have as little to do with her as possible, lest you end up cursed too. She does not belong to any coven.

  • Yoru is not her real name, but a nickname that ended up becoming her Title after the one event for which she is best known.

  • The earrings she wears are made of obsidian and are perfect for accumulating mana over a long period of time. They are a great reserve of energy in case of emergency.

  • Born on the 7th of February 19XX into a humble family, she lived in a mountain village with her father and grandmother. Her father was the teacher in town, loved and at the same time hated because of this "new knowledge" he brought. He didn't make much money so yoru started working young for the mayor's family as a maid, taking care of the animals and cleaning.

  • She learnt magic from her Aunt Almudena.

  • Although she doesn't really need it, she has a magic staff made of chestnut wood that she uses to cast spells. Under certain conditions, the staff transforms into a scythe. She claims that “hitting people” with the staff is very therapeutic and it just looks cooler.

DIANA

Yoru's apprentice and novice witch.
She comes from the renown Puig family, a group of mages from Catalonia, in the north-east of Spain.Proud, serious, and somewhat absent-minded, she follows every order without question. Just as she was taught.The thing is... she isn't very good at casting spells. So her father doesn't see her as a true member of the family.She has one last chance to prove her worth: The Coming of Age ceremony. But something will happen on that day that will change her to the core.

  • She was born on the 11th of August, on a rainy day.

  • Her older brother is currently the head of the family.

ERIS

A mysterious woman. Also a witch.
She suddenly appears with an innocent smile on her face. Yoru seems to know her.

MISIFÚ the cat

Yoru's familiar.
He looks like a normal white cat. In truth he is a high ranking demon in disguise. He is known as Misifudeus, his full name something that us humans can't pronounce. Yoru calls him "misi" which he doesn't appreciate, since it sounds like "missy" but oh well, what can you do.
He helps with magical chanting and also keeps an eye on the bookstore.
